Died at his home in Colfax- Farewell Party- Bonding Proposition
The death of E.B. Ketcham, at his home in Colfax, occured tuesday. He had suffered for a long time, with a cancerous growth in his stomach, Funeral services was held in Greenwood yesterday.
Mr. Ketcham came to Colfax and homesteaded the tract of land which has been his farm for thirty-eight years. He has always been a good neighbor and an upright man. He was a veteran of the civil war serving four years in the Tenth Michigan Cavalry. Mrs Ketcham and six children survive him. They are Mrs F.A. Barnes, Mrs Charles Dailey, Mrs Clark Trowbridge, Mrs Glenn Beard, Will Ketcham and Mrs Charles Hardy. E.B., Ketcham died at his home Tuesday after being sick nearly all winter, Mr Ketcham was one of the early pioneers of Wexford county, and will be missed by all who knew him.
The funeral of the late Eugene Ketcham of Colfax held thursday at the disciple church in Greenwood twp, was the largest attended outside of Cadillac or the villiages. There were 65 rigs in the pocession and people came for many miles to pay a last tribute to one who in life was ever ready to extend a helping hand to a needy neighbor.
