Death: Dec. 19, 1957

Percival Eugene Barnes, husband to Emma Velma Longstreet Barnes. Father of eight children who survived him. He was preceded in death by twin sons Roy Gene & Ray Dean .

Percival was employed at the St.John's Table Factory in Cadillac as a maintenance worker. He died of cerebral vascular accident. Over the years he had suffered with several strokes and heart attacks which left him partialy paralyzed. Before this he had loved playing with his children and grandchildren.

Percival served his county during WWI.

The following is copied from a newspaper clipping. Complete with errors.

Funeral Sunday for Percy F. Barnes.

Percy Eugene Barnes 66, passed away Thursday afternoon at Mercy Hospital where he had been a patient for the past several days, after suffering a stroke.

He was born in Cadillac June 5. 1891 to Fredrick and Bertha Barnes and had spent his life in this area. July 1. 1920 he married Emma Longstreet and to them were born eight children all of whom survive.

He was a farmer, residing in Colfax Township and worked at St Johns Table Co. at Cadillac for a number of years. Since suffering a stroke six years ago he has been inactive. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving beisdes the widow are the children. Harold of Tustin, Lawrence of Conklin, Darrell of Muskegon and Percy Jr. of Manton. Mrs. Jason ( Norma ) Lickley of Imlay City. Mrs. Howard (Irma) Warden of Fairborn Ohio, Mrs. Vernon ( Lois ) Goodwin of Flint and Mrs. Carl ( Bertha ) Vincent of Manton and 17 grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother Lester of Manton, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Robertson of Lansing and Mrs Joseph (Lora) Sherman of Manton. and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Services will beat 1:30 Sunday afternoon at the Bostick Chapel with Rev F.S. Gurden officiating. Internment in Soper Cemetery.
