Cudge Elkins Dies After Two Months Illness
Geyserville Resident For Seven Years And Pioneer Of Mendocino

"Isaac Brown Elkins, known to his friends as “Cudge” Elkins, died at his home in Geyserville Friday afternoon after an illness of two months. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Elkins; twin sisters, Mrs. Sarah Smith, and Mrs. Nora Roland of Los Angeles; two brothers, Richard of Yorkville, and John of Grimes. Mrs. Warren Lampson is a niece. Mr. Elkins was a pioneer of Mendocino county, where he raised stock and disposed of it in early days. He was 72 years of age the 30th of October. February, 1887, he married Barbara Ann Cooper and following their marriage resided in Ornbaun valley, where they had various ranches. About seven years ago they moved to Geyserville and purchased the old Cooper home, where they have since lived. During Mr. Elkins’ illness he exhibited the same wonderful fortitude and patience which had always marked his life. He was of the rugged pioneer type of man, kind and conscientious. He had a wide circle of friends, many of whom came from long distances to see him during his last illness. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon from the family residence. Interment will be made in Olive cemetery, Geyserville."
