My dear Mrs. Lavergne
Today experience inclines us to say "sad," but only Our dear Lord knows so well, that it should be "happy" for when a farmer goes out and sows his field, he awaits anxiously for the great result- your dear husband has sowed for Him all his life, and now he is reaping his reward- the flowers,- the crop- the blooms the real thing and goal of life..... Eternity with Him.
Let not this loss to you be a cause of tears among the many in the family, but let them rejoice with you for the great reward your husband has now in possession.
Respectfully yours in Christ.

My dear Mathilde
At a time like this what can one say? Indeed, words cannot express my deep sorrow for your loss. May I offer my deepest sympathy. Numa's unfailing kindness, his delightful humor and his keen sense of justice endeared him to a wide circle of friends.
For myself-the memories of the long years of his friendship now return to give happiness, even in sorrow- yours, being much longer, may all their beauty return to you too to give you Consolation in your bereavement.
Your unselfish devotion to him at all times will now give you peace and comfort. And knowing your deep faith, I feel confident that you are making use of that only source of Consolation, and find there all that one would want in your moments of grief.

I did not attend the Funeral because, other than it being a Sunday, I was suffering from a tooth extraction and the weather not being favorable, I thought it best not to expose myself. I offered Holy Mass for Numa this A.M.
Please offer my expressions of Condolence to the other members of the family.
You have my deepest sympathy and love, Father.

Dear Mathilde, Arnaudville, La. Jan. 1969
It was indeed a shock to me when I heard of your dear Husband's death. I was so sorry I could not manage going over- But I made the announcement in Church.

May God give you the Courage and strength to bear the Cross of loneliness!! You will miss Him.- But Jesus will come in help to carry your lonely heart. I will help by remembering you in my Masses. You are such a good Christian, that I know your Faith will bear you up. Use your time to serve Jesus, more now, and He will fill the emptiness.
Devotedly en Jesus
Msgr. Daniel Bernard.

Please know that you and your intentions are in my prayers. I shall always remember your kindness to me.
Please accept my sincere sympathy upon the death of Mr. Numa. I will offer a Mass for him, God bless him and you,
Sincerely Fr. Leslie Prescott. (former asst. pastor of Lewisburg.)
