Birth: Feb. 25, 1855
Death: Oct. 27, 1931

Born in 1855 in Pontotoc County, to Ephriam(son of John and Mary (Pace)Darling, and Penninah(Coley). The granddaughter of Margret Elizabeth(Pace) Coley and William Coley Jr. Married on November 11th 1879, to John Franklin Jones. The mother of Edward, Ephriam Andrew,Lum,Henry,Robert,Isom,Elizabeth(Starnes),Nancy(Young),Mae(Pather). John Franklin died in 1936 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery(according to The Union County History book, article written by James L. Patrick, a great grandson of Tranquilla and John), John is listed as a widower on the 1930 census and was living with a son.(This census must have been late)Thanks to the help of RAOGK Volunteer Ms. Kelly, Tranquillas death records have been found. In September Tranquilla was attended by Dr. Gourdlock it was determined that Tranquilla at the age of 76 was suffering from (Aortic regurgitation). Her symptoms would have been the same as cardiac distress, with a racing pulse as her heart pumped harder and harder to move blood into the left atrium as it was continuing to seep back into the Aorta. Many legends have been handed down from family. Tranquilla is believed to be over half indian. My grandfather a grandson of Tranquilla, said his grandmother sang to him in Indian, and that indians came and wanted Tranquilla or his mother Elizabeth to go with them to the reservation. There is a story of a Indian Lady being taken by force to a train and being saved by the Jones boys. True or not these legends have kept Tranquilla's memory alive. It is a fact that John signed a 200 dollar bond agreement five days before being able to marry Tranquilla.(This was common at this time) The search goes on and branches of her(now very extended family) are searching for clues and facts on Tranquilla and John Franklin. In 1926 Tranquilla and John Franklin were forced to "break up house keeping" and move in with children one staying with a son and the other with another son.(reported by grandaughter Nannie) Tranquilla(in a wheelchair) lived 5years. John lived 10. The picture shown was my great grandmother Elizabeth's(Lizzie)Jones-Starnes, handed down to Uncle Cliff and in the hands of his granddaughter.(Great Great Granddaughter of Tranquilla and John Franklin). Her family continues.
