James A. "Andy" Anderton, 94 of Houston, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He was born October 2, 1919 in Wallace, Nebraska to the late Henry and Kathryn Norris Anderton.
He served under General Patton in Northern Africa and Sicily and several campaigns including Northern Apennines where he received 6 Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by wife of 50 years, Joella Bennett Anderton of Houston. He is survived by his sister, Frances Lowry of Houston; son, Rick (Marilyn) Anderton, Marietta, GA.; daughters, Susan Parks (Cary) of Little Rock; Josie Anderton of Shreveport, La. Kathleen Page of Frisco, Texas; eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Holly Hall Health Care and Heart to Heart Hospice.
A family memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Duchesne Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date with military honor at Houston National Cemetery. Donations are requested to be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Holly Hall Health Care.
