Nathaniel Wheeler Tobey was the son of Samuel Tobey and Lucy Wheeler. Nathaniel was married twice; #1 on December 18, 1831, in Jennings County, Indiana, to Alma Ruth West, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary West, married #2 about 1859 to Winnie Adaline Dennis Edde, daughter of Jonathan Dennis and Elizabeth Hall. Nathaniel and Alma had 19 children (believed)and he and Winnie had 6 (known). Nathaniel came to Texas, about 1858 or 1859. He is listed on the 1860 Bell County, Texas census.
