E.M. was the son of Samuel Russell Sallee (1884-1948) and Martha Ann Turner (1886-1977). He married Dwinna Lorene Hamrick, the daughter of Leonard Rush "L.R." Hamrick (1885-1952) and Permelia Angaline "Mealy" Dennis (1889-1965) about 1937. The couple had two sons, Bobby Dwayne on his birthday, Christmas Day 1938.
During WWII, E.M., served two tours on the USS Petrof Bay (CVE–80), carrier of the United States Navy. He enlisted December 18, 1943 and was released from duty on April 17, 1950. The Battles of Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa were a few of the USS Petrof Bay deployments. They were part of the Pearl Harbor clean up. Petrof Bay received five battle stars and a Presidential Unit Citation for World War II service.
E.M. died on Friday, March 2, 1984, in White City, Jackson, Oregon at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Dwayne, his parents.
