Ann graduated from North Central High School in Pioneer in 1974. She then received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1978 and then her Master’s degree from Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, MI in Library Science in the early 1980’s. Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelby, Ohio.
On July 5th 1983 Ann began working at the Marvin Memorial Public Library in Shelby, Ohio as the Children’s and Reference Librarian. On November 3rd 1998 she became the Director of the Library and for the past two years served as the deputy fiscal officer.
Ann was a member of the Ohio Library Council, Past President of the Shelby Rotary Club from 2004-2005, on the Advisory Board for Shelby Home and Public Health, and a member of the Business and Professional Women.
She is survived by two brothers Lowell and Tina Bavin of West Unity, Loren and Peg Bavin of Amery, WI, four nephews Craig Bavin, Chris Bavin, Brent (Emily) Bavin, Travis Bavin, one niece Nicole Bavin, one Aunt Rowena Moore of Pioneer, and several great nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
A time to receive friends will be on Friday, March 16th from 5-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Services will be on Saturday, March 17th at 11 am at the West Unity Presbyterian Church in West Unity with Reverend Dorothy Ritchey-Moore to officiate. Interment will be at Shiffler Cemetery in Bryan, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby on March 24th at 11 am with Reverend Brad McBee to officiate. Arrangements in Shelby will be handled by the Barkdull Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Shelby, Ohio or the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
