Greg Bowers of Healdsburg, CA died on August 3, 2011, at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was 64 years old. He is survived by his sister, Ann, of Bowling Green, Ohio. Although he expected to chart a career as a teacher, he found he preferred work in the wine industry, with a focus on sales. He worked at the Dehlinger Winery in Sebastopol for several years and ended his career at Gary Farrell Winery. Normally quiet, he became an enthusiastic extrovert when he could talk with people about California wines. He earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a B.A. in Studio Photography from Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park. In his youth he loved to travel, especially to France and Italy. But he was also content hanging around Healdsburg, and was frequently spotted barbecuing his meals by his porch, accompanied by his large collection of jazz recordings. Among his many other creative interests were photography and art.
