Son of Wires James Ketchum and Louisa Jane Randall Ketchum. Married to his first wife Effie Belle Rood, together they had three children during their marriage and following their divorce the family believes that they had more children together.
Ludern, who worked for the railroad made his way west to the state of Utah. Ludern sent tickets to Michigan for Helen, Floyd and Ethel to visit him in Utah. The children traveled to Utah and didn't go back to Michigan.
