CPL Garry Dwight Barbee, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Concord NC.

CPL Garry Dwight Barbee was a member of the Army, CPL Barbee served our country until August 2nd, 1969 in Binh Dinh, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. Garry died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Garry was born on August 20th, 1949 in Concord, North Carolina. CPL Barbee is on panel 20W, line 088 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

Additional information regarding the battle conditions experienced by Garry Barbee, William Sewell, Philip Weir, and other members of their team can be read in the nonfiction book "Time Heals No Wounds" by Jack Leninger, published in 1993 by Ivy Books/Ballantine Books. He served with Brave Company, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
