1st mar Wm H Harrison Slatton/Slatten in 1860 DeKalb County Alabama (d 1864 Confederate POW in Camp Chase OH),
2nd mar Major Perel Clark, where and when unclear.

Descendants are also Slayton, Slaten, Slaton, etc.

She lived in a shack across the street from her husband's two-story farmhouse, both were destroyed in a tornado that destroyed many Slaton/Slatton landmarks and homes.

In 1926, she applied for the Cherokee Baker Rolls, claiming that her grandmother was captured, and her father James Brown was b in captivity and was 1/2 Cherokee, explaining her habits. She lived in a shack across the street from her husband's two-story house, slept on corn shucks. Shack was known as "birthing shack." Her mother is confirmed as Anna Kelley, who claimed to have married James Brown in McMinn Co TN, which was historically Cherokee before the Removal. Kizzie was rejected for "living for many years away from Cherokee country." Special thanks to "Brown" cousin Jamie Fisk for bringing the app to my attention!
This claim of Cherokee connection has never been proved.

He served in KY militia unit in the War of 1812, volunteered Cumberland Co KY, served at St Mary's River Fort in Michigan.
