Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Dean received the tragic news Saturday that their son, Howard, 21, who was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas had been killed in a head on collision about 2 a.m. Saturday near Nolanville, Texas. No details of the accident are known at this time.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean, Patty and Sam left early Tuesday morning for Oklahoma having been delayed here because they were advised to wait for further instructions from Army headquarters.
Mr. Dean, who is the Ag Instructor in Nelson High School telephoned Superintendent Earl Lowe about 6 p.m. Tuesday to say they had arrived at Roff, Oklahoma about 4 p.m.
The body of their son was expected to arrive there about 11 p.m. Tuesday and funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Roff, Oklahoma.

Funeral services for E2 Howard Dean, 21 of the U.S. Army were held Thursday, April 17 in the Methodist Church at Roff, Oklahoma.
The Army Honor Guard from Fort Sill, Oklahoma conducted the military services. Interment was in the East Hill Cemetary (sic) at Roff.
Howard, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Dean of Nelson was born December 17, 1947 and died April 12, 1969 from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
Howard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nelson.
Howard came to the Nelson community with his family in 1965 and graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1966. Following that he attended two years at the Ag. Trade School in Curtis, graduating in June 1968.
Howard entered the Armed Forces July 10, 1968, serving with the 2nd Armored Division. He had earned his marksmanship medal as rifleman, being stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas at the time of his death.
Surviving are his parents, one sister, Patricia and one brother, Sammy, also one grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Shipp of Hammon, Oklahoma. One brother, Ray preceded him in death May 26, 1967.
Howards best friend, Gary Floyd of Fort Hood accompanied the body from Texas to Roff, Oklahoma and remained until after the services.
