GEORGE EUGENE BARRETT
(1873-1945)

George Eugene Barrett 71, died April 2, 1945, the adopted son of Sydney A and Delia Barrett, he was born in Owawego New York on April 30, 1873. He relocated as a child along with his parents to Nebraska, where he grew to manhood.  He married Clara E Hayes of Gibbson Nebraska on October 16,1897. They lived in Gibbson for three years before moving to Duluth, Minnesota.

At the age of eighteen he united with the Methodist Church of Gibbson, and while living in Minnesota served as home missionary under the Methodist Chruch for two years at Puposly, Minnesota.

In Janurary he moved with his family to Iowa and in 1936 came to Iowa City.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and one son in infancy.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters; Esther Romine of Iowa City and Dorothy Burkett of Wellman, son; Milo Barrett of Polk City, 15 grandchildren

Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Church at Iowa City, in the charge of Norman Hobbs. Internment was made at Wellman Iowa, the service being in the charge of John Y Swartzendruber.
