American Musician, Composer and Producer. Mouzon, a jazz drummer, played and recorded with Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Roberta Flack, Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Patrick Moraz, Betty Davis, Chubby Checker and many others. He received his first musical training in high school, then moved to New York City upon graduation, and studied drama and music at the City College of New York. Mouzon received drum lessons from Bobby Thomas, the drummer for jazz pianist Billy Taylor, and played percussion in the Broadway show 'Promises, Promises'. He then spent a year as a member of the jazz fusion band, Weather Report before signing as a solo artist to the Blue Note label in 1972. He would go on to record dozens of albums including 'The Essence of Mystery', 'The Man Incognito', 'In Search of a Dream', 'Baby Come Back', 'Morning Sun', 'Back to Jazz', 'Early Spring', 'The Survivor', 'On Top of the World', 'Jazz in Bel-Air' and 'Angel Face'. In 1992, he founded Tenacious Records. On film, he appeared as a musician in such films as 'That Thing You Do!', 'The Highlife', 'First Daughter' and 'The Dukes'. Mouzon died after a battle with neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare form of cancer.
