The Funeral of Hiram Kennedy
The funeral services of the late Hiram Kennedy were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home on Front Street, Rev. Warren Welsh having charge. L. E. Cutler and Mort Babbitt sang several beautiful selections. The pall bearers were the sons.
Mr. Kennedy served three years in the Civil War.
Hiram Kennedy was born in Aurora, Illinois, March 11, 1846, and died May 5, 1913, at his home in Abingdon, Ill. He was united in marriage to Sarah C. Holdermin June 10, 1866.
He leaves to mourn him the wife and five sons and two daughters, Frank, Alvin, and Daniel of Abingdon, Mrs. Thomas Hilton, Galesburg, Edward, Chicago, Mrs. Ludwell Cox, Abingdon and Delbert of Whittier, Cal., and one brother, Hugh Kennedy of Monmouth and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Kelso, New York City. The remains were laid to rest in the Abingdon Cemetery.
The out of town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kennedy and Mrs. Carrie Doner, Monmouth, Ill.
