Served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Troop D, 1st Alabama Cavalry. Also served as a corporal in Troops A and L of the 15th Illinois Cavalry and in the 11th Illinois Infantry for 3 months. He was mustered out March 6, 1864, in Chattanooga, TN.
