Daniel Bloom Ferguson was born Sept.2,1833 in Bedford Co., Pa., the son of Samuel Ferguson and Nancy Keagy Ferguson.
He enlisted as a 27 yr. old resident of Durant, Cedar Co., Iowa on June 24,1861 in Co. A, 5th Iowa Infantry. He was rejected for service July 15,1861 at Camp Warren, Burlington, Iowa.
He enlisted a second time on Aug.16,1861 and was mustered into service Sept. 4, 1861 as a private in Co. E, 2nd Iowa Cavalry. He was mustered out at Selma, Ala. on Sept.19,1865.
He filed for an invalid pension on July 26,1890 and received certificate # 573.583.
Daniel died in the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown, Iowa on May 17,1914 and was buried in the Veterans Cemetery located on the grounds.
