MR. S. S. CARRIKER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS At an early hour Thursday morning, Mr. S. S. Carriker, one of Arcadia's oldest and best known citizens passed away, after a long period of acute suffering from cancer of the stomach. He has been a resident of this place for 34 years, and for several years was engaged in the mercantile business here. Mr. Carriker was a member of the Presbyterian church, of which he was an elder. He was also a member of the Arcadia Lodge, No. 126, F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife and other relatives. It can be said of him that he was a devout Christian, a consistent Mason and worthy citizen; and his presence will be greatly missed. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, his remains being laid to rest in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Sidney was a member of Company I, 3rd Regiment of the Alabama Infantry. He enlisted as a private in 1861 and surrendered on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox, Virginia.
