Pioneer woman, 92, Dies at Howard City: burial in Ottawa.
Howard City Dec 1. Funeral services will be held here at 11:30 Sundy for Mrs. Adelia V. Myers 92, pioneer western Michigan settler who came here from LeRoy in 1919, three years after the death of her husband, Jacob W. Myers, a Civil War veteran.
Mr. and Mrs. Myers came to Michigan from New York by Ox cart in 1873, eight years after the Civil War, and settled in Coopersville, where they lived for 10 years before pusing north to LeRoy. Thee they cleared a plot of land to build a cabin home. They lived in LeRoy until Mr. Myers death.
Mrs. Myers was active in the Methodist Church circles until her death always exercised her right to vote and maintained a keen interest in national affairs. She was the mother of five sons, all deceased, two daughters Mrs. Mary B. Harmer of Howard City and Mrs. Harry Sayers of Salem, Illinois, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Scott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Advent Cemetery in Coopersville.
