John Adam Ramming was the son of Mathew Ramming of Kuulmbach in Ober Franken Mauria, Germany and Mary A. Cooksey/Cooksy born in what is now DeKalb Co, Tenn. He died of TB. There was so much of it in the early 1900's with no treatment that would cure many patients. Death Cert# 4742

JOHN RAMMING DEAD Succumbs to Tuberculosis at Home in Jefferson City Tuesday.
John A. Ramming, age sixty-one years, died at his home in Jefferson City, Tuesday evening at 10:30 of tuberclosis after a lingering illness. The remains were brought to this place and interred in the Russellville cemetery Thursday morning after a brief service by Rev. D. I. Slipher at the Methodist church.
Deceased was born in Morgan county near Versailles and with his father moved to this place when a small boy. He was married twice, both wives having preceded him to the grave. He leaves seven children, namely: Mrs. Carrie Jones, Misses Nora and Ethel, Milton, John, Ben, and Frank all of Jefferson City.
Deceased was a brother of Mrs. Wm. [Fannie Livine] Webb of this place. Mesdames T. J. [Emilie/Emily Josephine] Markham and A. H. [Roeany/Roena Catherine] House, of Jefferson City and Geo. [George Monroe] Ramming of Clinton. He was a member of the Methodist Church at one time but later joined the Holiness people. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and relatives from Jefferson City and at this place.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Was preceded in death by two wives 1) Mary E. Rhoads (Married 30May1871 in Moniteau Co, Missouri) who died 9Jan1875; and 2)Margaret Elizabeth (Mahaley? Mahala?) Hall married 6Aug1876 in Bates Co, MO, died 17Nov1898 in McDonald Co, MO; and an infant son, the older one, from his first marriage, James M. Rammming who died in 1871 at one month of age. He was also preceded in death by 2 other sisters, 1) Mrs. Lewis Clark (Mary Jane Ura) Berry who died 1Sept1908 and Martha Elizabeth who died at age 7 1/2 on 22Feb1862.
