William Henry Clay Alley was born 05 May 1843 in Nacoochee, to Coleman & Adaline Dooley Alley. During the War of Northern Aggression he enlisted, as a private in Smith Legion Ga Vols. on 15 May 1862, He later transferred to Co C 65th Regt Ga Vol Inf in March 1863, He was wounded & sent to the hospital 24 Aug 1863, he deserted, 13 June 1864 for a short time at Pine Mountain Ga. On 18 June 1864 he was captured, near Marietta Cobb Co Ga., & sent to Camp Morton Ind., confederate prison. He took the Oath of Allegiance to the U S Govermemt & released 10 Feb 1865. After the war he returned to White Co. Where he married his wife Virginia Ann & had 3 children. In 1910 he was living in Nacoochee with his wife and 2 children, Carlton 29 & William 21. In 1920 at age 76 he was living in White Co. with Carlton & William & (Williams wife) Cordie & (grandaughter) Virginia. He died in Nacoochee White Co Ga 27 Jan. 1929...
