Alamo defender. He traveled to Texas by way of New Orleans as a member of Captain Thomas H. Breece's company of New Orleans Greys, took part in and was wounded in the siege of Bexar. His father, Samuel Vinson Crossman (b. 19 Dec 1784- Dec 18, 1813) in Taunton, Massachusetts was the second son of Ebenezer and Mercy Crossman. Robert is Descendant of Robert Crossman (1622 - 1692) who was known as "the Drum Maker of New England". ALAMO 13-day siege and predawn battle March 6, 1836, there were 189 to 250 defender casualties. As for the Alamo defenders, history shows that Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered the bodies of dead Texians to be burned. Texas leader Juan Seguin took ashes from two funeral pyres, entombed them and buried them near, or possibly inside, San Fernando Cathedral a year after the battle.
