NEWTON WOMAN DIES OF WOUND- TRENTON, MO - A warrant has been issued charging a Newton man, Bernie White, with first degree murder in the shooting death of his wife here.

Mrs. Gala White, 24, died at Wright Memorial Hospital here after an unidentified man left her at the hospital's emergency entrance and then drove away.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Mrs. White was shot once in the chest, apparently with a 22 -cal. weapon. She died at the hospital shortly after midnight, according to officials.

Law enforcement officials in northern Missouri and southern Iowa were searching for the man who brought Mrs. White to the hospital and drove away after summoning a nurse. No description of the man was released.

Mercer County Sheriff Ovie Covey of Princeton, Mo., said Mrs. White and her husband had lived in Newton.
