CULLOM — Hazel G. Allen, 95, Cullom, died at 5:58 p.m. Thursday (March 8, 2012) at Heritage Health, Dwight.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Cullom. The Rev. David Sabel will officiate. Burial will be at Sullivan Center Cemetery, rural Cullom. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials in Hazel's name may be made to Cullom Beckman Memorial Library, Cullom Fire and Ambulance or a charity of the donor's choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, is handling arrangements.

Hazel was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Noble, the daughter of Ray A. and Jessie Marvel Franklin. She married Orville R. Allen on Nov. 11, 1934, in Decatur. He died Dec. 10, 2004.

She is survived by one sister, Judith (Darrell) Bandy, Taylorville; five grandchildren, Ricky (Vicki) Allen, Jeffrey (Lori) Allen, Leanne Moore, Steve (Tammy) Moore and David (Michelle) Kramer; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Jeweldean Allen, Pontiac; and son-in-law, L. Max Moore, Chatsworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Richard Allen; two daughters, Linda J. Moore and Barbara J. Kramer; one sister, Ida M. Stroyeck; and one grandson in infancy.

Mrs. Allen was educated at Maple Grove Elementary School in Harristown and graduated from Warrensburg High School, Warrensburg.

Hazel worked for Sears and Roebuck in sales; J.C. Penney as a cashier; Hicksgas, Garland & Garland in bookkeeping; and was an assessor for Sullivan Township for many years.

Hazel was a member of the Cullom Home Bureau, St. John's Altar and Rosary Society and Skinner-Trost American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a 4-H leader for several years and also served as a township official in Livingston County.
