Death: Aug. 24, 1911

Mrs Martha Kirk, sixty years of age,
died early last Friday morning
from self-inflicted injuries, at the
home of her sister, Mrs Stephen
Wayman, four miles north of
Princeton. Funeral services were held
that afternoon at the Fairley Church,
conducted by Rev Chas Hickman, of
Mercer, after which the remains were
tenderly laid to rest in the nearby
The deceased was a native of
Missouri and the daughter of Moses
and Nancy Overton, pioneer residents
of this section. When as a young
woman she was married to Marion
Frakes and to this union were born a
large family of whom six children
survive. These are Nancy A, Lillie,
Rose, Alexander, Joseph, and Aaron.
The husband and father died about
fifteen years ago. About two years ago
the deceased was married to Francis
M Kirk, of Altoona, Kas. Mr Kirk
died in the autumn of 1910 and since
that period, his wife has resided with
her daughter at Trenton, coming to the
home of her sister but a few weeks
ago. Mrs Kirk was a sister of James and
Isaac Overton, Mrs Bert Young, and
Mrs Wayman. She leaves many
friends to mourn her death and the
hearts of all go out in deep sympathy
for her bereft loved ones.

Note: No stone has been found for her but is reported to be buried at the side of her daughter. Death certificate gives birthdate as Dec 25, 1860 but this must be a mistake as she would have only been 10 when married and 11 when she gave birth to Aaron.
