Pvt. Marshall David (1828-1897)
Co. D, 16th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry
Enlisted June 17, 1862 in Captain Montgomery's Company, in Danielsville, Georgia. The 16th was in many of the major battles with the Army of Northern Virginia. Marshall was captured at Gettysburg July 2, 1863 and exchanded Aug 1. He stayed in the Richmond General Hospital thirty days and returned to his company. He was captured a second time at Strausberg, VA on Oct. 19, 1864 and was imprisoned at Pt Lookout, Md. He was exchanged March 28, 1865. Marshall was captured and paroled at Greenville, SC on May 23, 1865, after which he returned to Madison Co. Georgia.
