Lorraine Eppenbaugh, 73, of Rockford, died at 5:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 at home in the loving care of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 8, 1926 in Rockford, daughter of Russell and Blanche Moore DeWitt. Married to Gerald Eppenbaugh in San Francisco on July 25, 1944. Employed by Pierce Chemical Co. for 18 years, retiring as a mail supervisor. She was a homemaker, owned and operated a ceramics studio, active in Girl Scouts of America and was a charter member of Beth-Eden United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Russell Eppenbaugh of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Alan (Debra) Eppenbaugh of Caledonia; daughter, Melody (Robert) Anderson of Rockford; four grandchildren, Sarah Beth and Joshua Gerald Howard Anderson and Amy Marie and Lisa Ann Eppenbaugh; brother, Crawford (Phyllis) DeWitt of Rockford; sisters Jeannine Bennehoff of Freeport and Donita (Paul) Rosenberg of Big Pine Key; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, husband; and a brother in infancy, Russell Dean Jr.
Services at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 in Beth-Eden United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Lee officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice Association.
