James F Romelfanger, 73, retired Midland Railway Co. employee, died Friday afternoon at Jamestown Hospital where he had been a patient for the past ten days.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30pm at the Daly-Peterson Funeral Home with Rev. N E McCoy in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Romelfanger was born March 13, 1897 at Rockford, Illinois, son of Mr and Mrs Franklin Romelfanger. As a child he moved with his parents to Roscoe, SD where he received his education and later engaged in farming. He enlisted in the US Army on Sept 9, 1918, during World War I and was discharged on March 21, 1919.

Following his discharge, Mr Romelfanger returned to Roscoe and shortly after came to the Kensel community where he farmed. He was married to Gladys Johnson on October 28, 1924 at Carrington and they made their home on his farm until 1943 when they retired and moved to Jamestown. Mr Romelfanger was employed by the Midland Railway Co until retiring in 1964. His wife died on December 31, 1969. He was a member of Fort Seward Barracks, World War I Veterans.

Survivors include twin sons, James Allen Romelfanger, Jamestown, and Sgt First Class Jerold Eldwin Romelfanger, in Germany; one daughter, Mrs James Lukins (Florence), Fort Worth, TX; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Ed Belanger (Sarah) and Mrs Lester Grote (Dena) both of Aberdeen, SD; and Mrs Frances Jensen, Santa Maria, CA. His parents, his wife and a brother preceded him in death.
