Faye Martin Murphy passed from this earthly life on Thursday, April 9, 2015 having a brief, but strong battle with cancer.
A memorial service honoring Faye will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Ida United Methodist Church in Ida, LA, officiated by Rev. Jerry Means, Rev. Sandy DeFatta and Rev. Kendall Docter. Her ashes will be sprinkled at her childhood cemetery in Yazoo County, MS with a private family service at a later date.
Faye was the third daughter born to Alvin and Lilly Carson Martin on December 8, 1930 in Yazoo County, MS. She graduated from Anding High School and received a R.N. degree from the Gilford School of Nursing at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS in 1951.
Through her vivacious personality, her smile and love of life, Faye leaves a legacy of deep relationships with people who will remember her and miss her deeply.
Faye is survived by her step-daughter Jeanne Murphy Philyaw and step-son Kevin Murphy, granddaughters Chivonne, Gabrielle, Claudia and Patricia. Also leaves behind 4 adorable great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Bobbie Martin Cessna of St. Louis, MO, Charline Martin McGraw of Yazoo City, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by her husbands Milo Eugene Murphy and Norman D. Tyson.
