Mary E. Stacey, 92, of Richland passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at her home.

Funeral Services were held at the Richland Christian Church on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.

Interment was at Eagle Valley Cemetery and a reception followed at the Richland Grange.

Mary was born on Jan. 30, 1911, to James and Anna Simonis Cropp on a homestead in Eagle Valley where she lived most of her life.

Mary and Orin Clemons were married in Caldwell, Idaho, on Feb. 3, 1927. They had three children, Mary Yvonne, James William and Liddy May. All of Mary’s life she was a wonderful Mother, Grandma and Aunt to all the children who came to visit or to stay. Her kitchen was always open, no job was too hard to do and she did a lot, as times were hard. During the war she helped with fixing jeeps for the U.S. Troops. She milked cows and goats and was a waitress and cook. The times she cooked for the Sheep Camp and Grade School were very happy. At retirement age she was working for the U.S. Post Office. Even at the age of 92 she whipped up a rice pudding and Mary’s famous vinegar cake.

In January of 1973, Orin passed away. In 1978, Mary married her friend LeRoy Stacey. They lived a happy life traveling with their fifth wheel trailer and just hanging out. After LeRoy passed away in January 1992, Mary continued on the best she could. She loved her home and hated the times she had to be away or in the hospital. These last few months were spent watching all the birds, deer, turkeys and her cats at play.

Mary was very active in the Granges, Sheriff’s Posse and was a great supporter of numerous organizations. She loved people.

Survivors include one daughter, one brother and one sister, six step children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Mary may do so to the Eagle Valley EMT’s in care of Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
