MRS. LUCY STANARD PASSES AWAY
After an illness of short duration, the end came peacefully to Mrs. Lucy Stanard, at her residence, 731 N. Ninth Street, Thursday, October 21, 1920, at 10:15 o'clock P.M. She was the widow of the late Jacob Stanard and had been an old resident of this city, much loved and respected by all.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Effie Stanard Smith, of Brookly, N. Y.; five sons, Edward L. Standard, Richmond, Va.; Henry M. Stanard, Orange, N. J.; Jacob Stanard, Jr., Jersey City, N. J.; William G. Stanard, New York; Eugene G. Stanard, Jersey City, N. J. and five grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Sunday, October 24, 1920, at 1 o'clock P. M.
She had been a member of the Church for a number of years and the pastor, Rev. W. T. Johnson in his discourse pathetically portrayed the Christian like character of the deceased. The organizations of which she was a member were in attendance at the funeral.
Rev. Jackson, of St. Phillips P. E. Church concluded the services at the grave in Woodland Cemetery, where beautiful flowers, mute tokens of respect, were laid to mark the last resting place of the deceased.
