Joseph Hetzel was born in Untertraubenbach, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany.

Obituary - Hetzel. People in this community were shocked to hear of the death, on October 14, 1930, of Joseph Hetzel, which occurred in a hospital at Burlington, where he submitted to an operation. He had been ill only four days. Joseph Hetzel was born in 1883 in Untertraubonbach, near Chaur [Cham], in Bavaria. In 1912 he came to this country and for three years made his home with his uncle in Erie, Pennsylvania. Then he came to Spring Green where for many years he has worked until his marriage March 3rd, 1930 to Margaret Heiland. Shortly after they moved to Burlington, Wisconsin, where they have since made their home. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two brothers in Burlington and his aged parents and several brothers and sisters at his old home in Germany. Funeral services weere held at St. Charles church, Burlington, October 16th, interment being made in the new cemetery in that city.
