L. Floyd Schuyler
Veteran Anderson newspaperman, L. Floyd Schuyler, 63, 2516 28th St., died at noon Sunday at his home following a heart attack.
Schuyler, a member of the Daily Bulletin editorial staff at the time of his death, was employed by the Anderson newspapers for the past 37 1/2 years. He graduated from Indiana University with an A.B. degree in journalism in 1932.
He came to work for the Anderson Herald as a general assignment reporter in August 1934. He covered police, city hall and the courthouse. After serving with the U.S. Army as a sergeant with the military police from 1942 to 1945, he returned to the Herald as the courthouse reporter.
He was named city editor of the Herald in 1948 before becoming the managing editor in August 1951. He came to the Anderson Daily Bulletin in 1957 where he became the wire and state editor.
He was a native of Lapel, where he lived until moving to Anderson in recent years. A graduate of Lapel High School, he was a member of the American Legion and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include the widow, Vera; a sister, Nellie Herron of Lapel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fisher Brothers Funeral Home at Lapel with the Rev. Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
Friends may call a the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
