Jesse Lowmaster, 92, of the rural Galesburg and Erie areas, died at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Parsons Good Samaritan Center.
He was born March 20, 1914, in Urbana to Clarence and Minnie (Bailey) Lowmaster. He grew up and attended schools in Urbana before moving to rural Galesburg with his family. He farmed in the rural Galesburg and Erie area all of his adult life. He also raised cows and horses, specializing in Appaloosa saddle horses.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He married Lucille Hall in 1932 in Girard. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1992.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Janice Moore and David Hughes, both of Wichita; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Merle Lowmaster of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a daughter, Maxine Lee Hughes; three brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials to either Hospice Care of Kansas or to Good Samaritan Center in Parsons may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons.
