Bio provided by Al's niece, "Uncle Al liked the small town country life. He married Mary in 1940 in Flemington, New Jersey where they stayed for the rest of their lives. Before World War II, Al worked for Dave in the fur factory. During the war, he spent a short time in the Navy and then worked in a defense plant. From 1945 to 1951, he worked at Flemington Furs while being a volunteer in the Rescue Squad. Impressed with his work on the Rescue Squad, the governor of New Jersey appointed him Civil Defense Co-ordinator for Hunterdon County in 1951. He remained civil deense co-ordinator until he became ill in 1977. He died in 1980 of leukemia. After his death, Mary continued to live in the house Al had built in 1946 in Flemington. Several of the photos taken of you as a baby with the family before coming to California were taken in front of that house. If Al was the closest "farmer" member of the family, Dave was the most urbane. Al preferred wearing bib overalls while Dave was always well-dressed. "
