Clyde was a native of Gadsden AL and a member of the Central Methodist Church.
He was married twice and was the father of three children.
Clyde was lifelong army personnel,he was decorated with EAME Medal with two bronze stars, American Campaign Medal, the Silver Star and the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in WWII in Northern France and Ardennes Alsace. In December of 1944 he was stuck by a shell in Europe and hospitalized for 38 weeks. When he left the hospital he had a limp, a brace on his leg and a cane. He retired from active duty in 1947.
After returning as a WWII disabled veteran he took a linotype ad printing course. In 1950 while returning from a trip to Austin TX he skidded on a wet road and suffered several fractures, face and head cuts. He was hospitalized at least a month. During that hospital stay he was still campaigning for a seat on the Alabama legislature. He he did not win that seat.
He became the Administrative Advisor with Finance and Accounting at Ft. McCllelan for 20 years.
He was buried with full military rites by personnel of Ft. McClellan.
