Robert Earl Johnson, 92, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Dalhart, Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart. Officiating will be Steve Patterson, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, Dalhart.
Robert Earl Johnson was born September 25, 1916 in Hollis, OK to Robert Clyde and Agnes C. (Thompson) Johnson. Earl married Kathryn Mae Houser on February 15, 1941 in Plainview. He was a rancher, builder and airplane mechanic. Mr. Johnson was involved in the construction of Coon Memorial Hospital and Home, R.E.A., Dalhart High School Gymnasium, First National Bank, Western Skies, numerous other buildings and homes. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson donated the land for the city swimming pool.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn Mae, daughters, Kathryn Ann Williamson of Richmond, VA and Jan and husband Victor Chandler of Dalhart, three grandchildren, Connie and husband Greg Six of Richmond, VA, Heath and wife Liz Williamson of Chapel Hill, NC and Andrea K. Harrington and husband Wayne of Santa Maria, CA. Five great-grandchildren, Alexandra Six, Thurman Ayers Williamson, Maggie Williamson, Piper Williamson, and Gabriella Grace Harrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: Jerry Jack Johnson and Robert Scott Johnson, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
