Airman 2/c U.S. Air Force, Vietnam War-Airman Fields died from a drowning accident in the Khanh Hoa Province on 1-27-1966 while serving as a Military Policeman with the 12th Air Police Squadron of the 12th Combat Support Group of the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing of the 13th Air Force. Airman Fields was the fist Casualty from Galesburg, Illinois.

He is the son of Mr. Robert Fields of South Pearl Street in Galesburg, and Mrs. Lee Walbert of East Knox Street in Galesburg. He is a 1962 graduate of Galesburg H.S. There was a honor guard of 19 Airman acting as pall bearers and firing squad from Chanute Field at Rantoul, Illinois.

Awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
