Ole Bardahl
Birth: Jan. 28, 1902
Death: Aug. 11, 1989

Sportsman and businessman. Head of the Bardahl racing team and major sponsor in the sports of unlimited hydroplanes, Indianapolis formula race cars and national air racing competitions. He was born in Norway and immigrated to the United States in 1922. He was the founder of the world famous Bardahl manufacturing company in Seattle, producer of high performance engine oil additives. His career is best remembered as the legendary owner and sponsor of the U-40 "Miss Bardahl" unlimited hydroplane and he remains one of the most recognizable names in the history of the sport. Between 1957 and 1969, Bardahl sponsored boats dominated the racing circut winning a record five gold cups in six years and six national high point championships. He retired from the sport in 1969, having won more races than anyone in the history of powerboat racing. (bio by: Nils M. Solsvik Jr.)
