Dr Azariah Sinclair Elwood

Azariah's grandfather was Robert Elwood, who came from Ireland to PA.,later 1700's. He married Susan Shaw. Azariah's parents were; Henry Shaw Elwood & Sarah Sinclair.

Azariah was in the civil war, Asst. Surgeon. Company E. 40th Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry. After the civil war he was a doctor in Monroe, Iowa, then moved his practice to Golden, Colorado in 1884. Later he moved to Denver and lived at 914 Corona St., until his death in 1906.

Azariah, married 1852, 1st wife Elvira Jane Cowman and infant daughter, died 1853. He married, 2nd wife Mary Elizabeth Howard in 1861. They had 3 children, Charles S., Martha Elizabeth and William Henry.

Azariah was a member of G.A.R.
