BERTHA EVELYN LASLEY, 83, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital of Fort Wayne. Born in Middlesboro, Ky., in her early years, she was employed with Hutner's, Fort Wayne Printing & Container Corporation. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother, who cherished her grandchildren, travel to Florida, church quilting, crocheting and family gatherings. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughters, Darlene (Ed) Judkins and Glenda (Ronald) Dornseif, both of Fort Wayne; son, Mike (Joy) Lasley of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Omspaugh of El Paso, Texas and Brenda Goins of Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dealus Lasley, in 1987; her parents, Elbert and Rosetta (Cobb) Johns; three sisters, Dorothy Kaiser, Sylvia Couarm and Cornia Goins; and three brothers, John, Billy and Bobby Webb. Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson, with calling one hour prior at the church. Pastor Thomas Eggold officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road. Burial in Green-lawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
