Private John R. Dolomas, Jr. U. S. Army, was assigned to Company A, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. Muster reports show he was earlier assigned to Company F, 8th Cavalry when he was transported on the USS George Clymer in 1952. He was the son of John R. Dolomas, Sr. of Du Quoin. The Command Report, Headquarters, 2nd Division, for February 1953, during the time Private Dolomas was killed by hostiles, shows the unit vigorously patrolling 'No Mans Land' and enemy patrols engaging US patrols with medium and long range small arms fire and mortar fire.
In remembrance of his sacrifice, PVT Dolomas' name is inscribed on the Keyes Park Memorial in DuQuoin, Illinois.
