Samuel S. Redifer, Jr.
After a lingering illness of consumption, Samuel S. Redifer Jr., departed this life last evening. Mr. Redifer was in the twenty-sixth year of his age at the time of his death, and from childhood was well known in this community.
At an early age he became office boy , in employ of the Patriot Publishing Company, where he soon ingratiated himself into the esteem of all with whom he came in contact. From the office he went to the book bindery as an apprentice, serving faithfully his full time in that capacity. After his apprenticeship he remained connected with the book bindery of the PATRIOT company, serving a number of years as foreman of the department, till declining health compelled him to withdraw from the establishment. Mr. Redifer was an honest, upright man, of a cheerful disposition, and respected by his companions and acquaintances. His sufferings were long and painful and borne with great fortitude.

The funeral of Samuel S. Redifer. Jr., was largely attended on Sunday afternoon by relations and friends of the deceased. The printers and book binders of the city were well represented. Mr. James McCormack's bible class, which Mr. Redifer was a member was also present. Impressive services were held at the house, Rev. George S. Chambers, of the Pine street Presbyterian church officiating.
Many beautiful floral offerings graced the casket that held the remains. A pillow of choice flowers with the word "Son" in the centre was the gift of his mother. A beautiful cross from friends was among the gifts. The PATRIOT company employees presented a richly constructed crown with cross attached made of rare flowers, as a token of remembrance of their late companion. The remains were interred in East Harrisburg cemetery.
