Birth: 1849
Death: 1885

From Collins Family Records:

Mariah Jane Collins was the wife of James Polk Collins.

James Polk Collins was the son of James Simpson Collins and Cyena Blaylock. James Polk married Mariah Jane Collins on November 25, 1870.

Mariah was the daughter of Major Robert Crume Collins (brother to James Simpson Collins). Therefore Mariah was 1st cousin and wife to James Polk Collins. Mariah was born 12/29/1850 in Greene County, Alabama, and died after 1883 in Montgomery County, Mississippi.

James Polk Collins was born on March 8, 1844 in Webster County, MS and died May 7, 1912 in or near Lodi, MS.

NOTE: There are discrepancies between the Family Record dates (listed above) and the dates on the marker. The family records show the dates as 12/29/1850 (d.o.b.) and 11/30/1887 (d.o.d.). Her name is also listed as Mariah, instead of Marie.

I have Mariah born in Green Co., Alabama; died 30 Nov 1887. A note from the journal of B.F. Blaylock states she "grew to womanhood, acquiring a fair education and some knowledge of music." May she now be in the heavely choir. God bless, Mariah.
