Birth: Aug. 1, 1962
New York, USA
Death: Jan. 27, 2001

Colorado, USA

Kendall Durfey, 38, made his home in Perkins, OK. The Hyde Park, N.Y., native moved to Oklahoma in 1977 and graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1984 with a communications degree. He earned a master's degree in communications at OSU. He had worked as an engineer for OSU radio broadcasts for several years and was employed by Educational Television Services on the OSU campus. He was a passenger in one of three planes carrying the OSU team back to Stillwater after a Saturday afternoon game in Boulder against the University of Colorado. The plane left the Jefferson County Airport in Broomfield, which is between Denver and Boulder, at about 6 p.m. After flying east for about 35 minutes, the plane crashed during a light snowstorm into a remote field north of Interstate 70 near Byers. Memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater with about 600 people in attendance. Kendall Durfey's body will be cremated in Colorado, his favorite vacation spot, and returned to his family, Durfey said. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, an 11-year-old daughter, Ashlee, and a brother, Nelson Durfey. Services 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, First Presbyterian Church, Stillwater. Colonial Chapel, Stillwater.
