James A. Harding
James A. Harding was born in Meigs county, Ohio, October 25, 1848, and died at his home in Lowry City, Missouri, June 16, 1921, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 21 days. He had been ill since the preceding Saturday, and the direct cause of his death was heart trouble.
Mr. Harding moved to Grundy county Missouri, in 1865, and in 1873 was united in marriage to Celia Southerland. To this union were born two children, Bert and Clara. In 1880 he was married to Miss Julia Boyd, to which union two children were born, Homer and Elmer, the former dying in infancy.
In 1909 with his family he came to St. Clair county and located on a farm three miles northwest of Lowry City, where he resided until several years ago, when he retired from the active life of the farm and removed to Lowry City.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Bert Harding of Jamesport, Missouri; a daughter, Mrs. Dave Payne of Kansas City, Missouri, and a son, Elmer Harding, of Clinton, Missouri, besides many other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning, June 18, conducted by the Rev. J. M. Hawkins, and the body was taken to Clinton where burial was made the same day.
Mr. Harding had many friends in Lowry City and nearby communities who will extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
