William Riley Jackson, 84, of Lynchburg, went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 4, 2013. He was born on October 17, 1928 in Fayetteville, NC, a son of the late D.C. Jackson and Rena Porter Jackson. Riley served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he served in several capacities including, head greeter and grounds supervisor. He retired from Overnite Transportation (UPS Freight) after 32 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtis Moore Jackson of 58 years; two daughters, Susan Jackson Easterly and husband, Mark of Oak Island, NC, Anne Jackson Matthews and husband, John of Clermont, FL; two granddaughters, Kelli Anne Noftle of Los Angeles, CA, Meredith Anne Matthews of Clermont, FL; two grandsons, Jonathan Creswick Matthews of Winter Park, FL, William Tyler Jackson Matthews of Clermont, FL. He is also survived by a sister, Loretta Lewis and three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Bruce Jackson all of North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., today, Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene on Wards Ferry Road, with Pastor Stephen Willis officiating with burial to follow at Fort Hill Memorial park. The family would like to thank Dr. Kathleen Paul and Dr. Michael Valentine for their compassion and care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family would like your consideration of donations to Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene building fund or Centra Hospice, in appreciation of their kind care during his illness.
