Joseph enlisted in the Marines 30 November 1967, at the Jersey City Recruiting Office.
Arriving in Vietnam 22 May 1968 Joseph was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Thomas died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and body during an engagement against hostile forces, 8 kilometers southwest of Hai Van
Bridge, during Operation Nicollet Bay.
Survived by his parents, Henry and Josephine Amejka of Jersey City, New Jersey.
